Artisanal scarves and stoles are very much in vogue today. They bring an authentic style to your look while supporting the development of family workshops. Choose French-made products to encourage and preserve the time-honored skills of this historical center of fashion!

The handcrafted scarves

The handcrafted scarves made in our small French workshop are the heirs of the savoir-faire that has been rooted in our region of Lyon for centuries:

DESIGN:

While the textile industry flourished over the last three centuries, many French textile designers became famous and were recognized worldwide. By adapting to the technical constraints of their field, French designers created true works of art, reflections of the artistic vision, trends, and consumer practices of their time. Thus, French artist-designers like Philippe de Lassalle (1723-1804), Jean-François Bony (1754-1827), Jean-Baptiste Huet (1745-1811), and Raoul Dufy (Le Havre, 1877-1953) have left an indelible mark on the repertoire of decorative textile arts. Even today, artisans draw inspiration from the work of these masters.

WEAVING:

This craft has evolved over the centuries, with Joseph-Marie Jacquard (1752-1834) being a key figure. He was a Lyon inventor responsible for creating the first programmable mechanical loom. The art of weaving, first introduced in Lyon in 1536, developed in the 17th and 18th centuries into a multitude of workshops called “La Grande Fabrique“. These artisanal workshops, known locally as “canuts,” showcased their skills, bringing prestige to the city of Lyon until it eventually became known as the World Capital of Silk.

PRINTING:

Several other techniques, such as screen printing, moiré, and certain velvet productions, were born in Lyon. Today, digital printing replaces traditional techniques. Small artisanal workshops in the Lyon region allow for the production of authentic and original products in very limited series.

FINISHING:

Workshops that have been around for centuries still exist today, continuing to perfect woven scarves, stoles, and squares. Small workshops home to expertise and dexterity come in at the end of the production process to perfect your unique, handcrafted scarf.

SELECTION OF RAW MATERIALS

French scarf places great importance on choosing good-quality materials for its scarves and shawls, selecting only natural materials from expert spinning mills. Partnerships have been established over several generations with spinning mills and dyeing workshops. La Fabrique d’écharpe is very demanding about the quality of the yarns it uses, as this is a crucial factor for if fabrics can be made on new machines as well as the quality of the finished fabric. Much time is devoted to researching new materials, visiting international trade shows, discussions with fashion influencers, and sampling and testing new items identified over several decades.

Moreover, we use a stringent selection process for choosing spinning workshops that meet today’s textile and ecological standards, considering things such as:

The quality of raw materials

The manufacturing process

The absence of toxins that are harmful to health

Working conditions

Workers’ remuneration

Animal welfare

To this end, all the yarn suppliers French scarf uses are certified by Reach, Oeko-Tex, GOTS, and other standards.

What is authentic style ?

Authentic style is about knowing how to choose and combine pieces, experimenting with volume, texture, and color, while still remaining true to oneself and one’s desires. It’s about standing out while staying true to oneself. This is a delicate balance to achieve, but when successful, the result is unique and powerful.

So, how do you maintain an authentic style in the face of our society’s increasingly monotone, banal trends? The first ingredient of authenticity is yourself. Some designers believe that style should reflect your personality, passions, and values.

Instead of advising you to try improbable things with your style, instead we suggest that you take the type of clothing you love the most and then push the envelope just a bit further. For example, if you love cashmere scarves, find a cashmere scarf or shawl with a more intense pattern or color scheme than the one you already have.

This is where you will come across niche brands and passionate small creators with a beautiful approach. This is where “fashion” truly begins to make sense. French scarf is an authentic brand with all its savoir-faire coming from its experience spanning several generations, combined with creativity that brings each scarf or shawl a unique, elegant, and original character.

For unique scarves

French scarf allows you to create your own scarf or shawl with its configurator, where you can choose the patterns, colors, dimensions, and materials. Become a designer and create your unique scarf in your own style!

So if you are confident in your style, if you feel a real connection between your identity and what you wear, stop worrying about what others might think or say. You will be surprised to find that this confidence attracts more admiration than criticism. Trends come and go, but authenticity is a constant.

In this artificial world of conformity, stay authentic

Innovation has been at the heart of the development of French textile companies for several generations. This is why considerable expertise has been built up over time, and it must not be allowed to disappear. French scarf has always worked to preserve this savoir-faire by creating artisanal, unique scarves and shawls. This ensures that you receive original pieces that align with your desires, allowing you to maintain YOUR style!
