An exceptional oversize stole, almost 3 feet x 6 feet (1m x 2m) made of a specially curated blend of natural materials: wool, silk, and cotton, which lends it an ultra soft feel. The oversize design is composed of two gigantic flowers that are framed, like a painting, with an elegant frieze. Done in a two-tone style, the flowers look almost as if they were sketched in bleu and spread out beautifully over the bordeaux background, embroidered tone by tone. Small colored fringes finish of the bases of the scarf, while a very carefully done hem finishes the lengths. A stole that can double as a shawl that would also make a truly exceptional gift. 100% made at our workshop in Lyon, France.
INSPIRATION

The plant-covered decoration used for this large, luxurious scarf was inspired by William Morris wallpaper, but re-interpreted and simplified to resemble a pencil sketched engraving. The very sober but highly fashionable color scheme of bordeaux red and blue was chosen to emphasize the richness of the pattern and materials.

OUTFIT PAIRING IDEAS

This oversized “shawl” style stole can be worn as a scarf during the coldest periods of winter over a black, red, beige, or brown coat. It can also be used as a shawl over your shoulders in mid-season or for evening events on cooler summer evenings, either with a formal dress or a jacket and pants combination. This elegant stole will add a chic and sophisticated look to your outfits.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

To wash a wool stole, we advise washing by hand. Do not let it soak for too long. To dry, put the scarf in a towel to soak up the excess water, but do not wring it out or twist it. Then lay the scarf flat to dry. You can restore the volume and softness of the scarf’s natural materials by ironing it on high, using the vapor function. While putting it in the dryer is absolutely out of the question, you can take it in for dry cleaning instead.

TRADITIONALLY MADE

The weaving method used to make this scarf involves the interweaving of silk warp thread with Merino wool and cotton weft threads, utilizing a specially curated pattern. In order to do this, the Fabrique d’Écharpe weaving atelier uses Jacquard looms. The Jacquard loom was developed by Lyon-native Joseph Marie Jacquard in 1801, who created the first mechanical system that could be programmed with perforated cards to create a design by interweaving different colored threads. Thanks to the artisan weaving knowledge transmitted to us from generation to generation since 1880, today we have electronically controlled looms that allow for the scarf to be produced with impeccable quality all while respecting the purest methods of traditional Lyon Jacquard weaving.
