INSPIRATION

Having arrived via the Silk Road, paisley designs have been used for centuries by Lyon weavers. Over time, French textile designers have have copied them, revisited them, and modernized them to adapt to Western culture. Even today, the paisley design holds a special place in French fashion. Thus, La Fabrique d'écharpe created this scarf with cashmere patterns, realized with plant elements, to pay homage to the Lyon silk industry. Merino wool yarns mixed with silk were chosen to give texture to the fabric.

OUTFIT PAIRING IDEAS

A classic style scarf to pair with a suit or dress coat. For a more offbeat look, wear over a casual jacket or a big knitted coat. The coloring is neutral and matches all colors. No matter how you wear it, this scarf will add a touch of elegance to your look.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

To wash a primarily wool scarf, we recommend hand washing. Do not let your scarf soak for too long, put it in a towel to soak up excess water but do not wring it, then lay it flat to dry. Iron on high heat with steam to restore all the fluffiness and softness of the scarf’s natural materials. While you may not put it in the dryer, you may take it in for dry cleaning.

TRADITIONALLY MADE

The shaped weaving technique, known as the Jacquard method, used to make this scarf involves the interlacing of warp and weft threads according to a specific pattern. To do this, the weaving workshop of La Fabrique d'écharpe has its own Jacquard looms. The Jacquard loom is a weaving loom developed by Lyon-native Joseph Marie Jacquard in 1801, the first programmable mechanical system with punched cards to produce patterns by interweaving colored threads. Thanks to the know-how passed down from generation to generation in our family since 1880, we now have electronic Jacquard looms with digital controls that guarantee a perfect quality for our fabrics while respecting the most authentic Lyon traditions.
